My little get away to Key West
Ocean from our walk one day
The Bunker's used for missile's
Pelican's flying and feeding
Maddie's 1st taste of ice cream, she loved it
Oh, I had a great time! It was a small miracle, all three of my flights were on time on my way there and the last one was even a little early. It was 12 hours of travel but it went by really quick. The way home was smooth sailing as well, I just didn't have my bag when I landed. It wanted to stay in Key West, but arrived in the middle of the night at our doorstep.
When I landed, Shelly picked me up. Maddie was at home with Grandma so we headed out to Duval St. I had no idea Key West was a party town but I have to say I have seen it all now. We went to a famous bar known for Hemmingway and where he drank himself drunk every night, "The Garden of Eden"-a clothing optional bar and yes there were some (not many) clothes missing here. There were a lot of bars, shops and places to eat.
Saturday Shelly and Maddie took me out to see Key West. It was so nice-80 and sunny. We had a yummy lunch with Key Lime Pie and walked around, Ernest Hemmingways home, and the old town of Key West.
Sunday we took a trolley tour around town (thanks Shelly) it was really interesting. I learned a lot about the island, and I think I saw most of it also. We ate lunch on the beach and had yummy key lime ice cream.
Monday I got to experience what rain on a tin roof sounds like. It poured all morning but broke long enough for us to head North on highway 1 to see some of the Florida Keys and the beautiful scenery that goes along with it.
We also went to the sight were the Navy held the Missile to attack Cuba during the "Cuban Missile Crisis" It was neat to see. We ended the day with a yummy dinner out and yummy ice cream. Come to think of it not a day went by we didn't eat dessert.
I had a great time. Maddie is a very cute little baby she knows sign language which just amazes me (we might try to teach our next one this) Shelly is a great mommy. Jackson is in Cuba for the Navy, once again I didn't get to see him. Maybe in Italy!
It was so fun to come home. Lydia was at the airport with Kris and once she saw me she was yelling Mommy Mommy and gave me the BIGGEST hug and kisses I have ever gotting.
Kris had a good time with Lydia. He milked his way to all our friends houses for dinner every night and had multiple play dates to fill his days. What a great husband to let me go!
I will post photos once I can get them downloaded-having computer issues-whats new!
