One Week Old

Hannah is a week old today, I can't believe how fast the past week has gone. We have started to adjust very well. Kris and I have been learning the delicate balance of two kids and the attention needed by the older one when the little one gets all the attention. Lydia is doing well, she loves her baby sister and as I type this she is reading her books!

We had Hannah's one week appointment yesterday. Monday she left the hospital at 7lbs 2oz and yesterday she was 7lb 13oz so I guess Mommy's milk is doing its job, which makes me happy. She loves to sleep which is nice and loves to eat, she has started to be more alert about 30 minutes at a time and when she is she is open eyed and looks at the lights.

So I told you all I would give you the labor story so here it goes:
I was set to be delivering Hannah at noon on the 10th via C-section well Thursday Mom and I went shopping and all the sudden I felt a drop in my lower area and had to come home (Hannah dropped and I could barely walk) that evening I started contractions but didn't know that is what they were until about midnight. This whole time I was on my own as Kris was with a very sick Lydia in her room so about 3:30 I woke Kris up and told him my contractions where about 7 to 9 minutes apart and where making me cry so I called the Dr and was told to get to the hospital since I had to have a C-Section. So we arrived at the hospital at 5 and the front desk lady said your here for a noon surgery and looked at me like I was nuts and I said no in labor! So I was placed on monitors and soon it was decided I would be having a baby girl in the next hour. I was prepped and wheeled back to the OR and at 6:58am Hannah Jean arrived 7lbs 11oz and 21inches long. She had a full head of black hair and was screaming! She screamed for the first 90 minutes of her life and then settled down into the quiet little baby she has been since. So Hannah was born on what we picked for a birthday just a few hours before we thought.

We had Lydia's preschool program on Thursday the 9th, she was adorable my camera wasn't working that well but here are a few photos of it that I did get.

We are truely bless with two beautiful girls and wonderful help from my Mom and Dad! Christmas will be wonderful this year, we just got our present a few weeks early!

Snow Day

Wednesday we woke up to about 8 inches of snow and it continued through out the day. This is very rare for Boise, the usual is 1-2 inches and it melts my noon. Kris had the day off and so Lydia and him played from morning to night outside. Here are some photos.

Santa

We continued our Thanksgiving tradition of making a yummy meal and heading out to the Festival of Tree's for the evening on Thanksgiving. This is where Lydia got to see Santa and boy was she excited. She had to have Daddy go with her but she talked Santa's ear off and when it was time to tell him what she wanted for Christmas the only thing she could think of was a Baby Doll.
Here are some photos of her visit.
We are almost baby ready here in this house. We have a few little things like get the car seat down out of the garage and pack our overnight bags but hey I will get it done in time, even if we are flying out the door. I am going to try and enjoy the next week of just Lydia and I because I know I will NEVER get this time back but wow would I love it to be Dec 10th already. So we have plans to make cookies, make crafts, go buy Hannah a toy from Lydia, play games and do puzzles and if the snow keeps falling we might even go play outside.

For those that want to know...Our/My C-Section is scheduled for noon on the 10th. We are at St. Luke's Boise. Main Number is 208-381-2222 I will be there at least until Monday.

Happy December!

Baby Class and Thanksgiving Feast

This past weekend we went to a Sibling Preparation class at the hospital. I am so glad we did it. The kids ages 3-8 learned all about how important being a Big Sister/Brother was. They learned how to pick a baby up correctly, how to change diapers (not really a kids job but so they are included) how to sing, read and rock their baby sister/brothers. We then got to take a tour of the labor floor and the recovery floor. We got to see the nursery with about 6 newborns in it, this was the most exciting part for Lydia.

Also on Monday preschool hosted a Thanksgiving Feast. It was nuggets and all the side dishes. It was pretty cute.

Thanksgiving

It is Thanksgiving Eve here in Boise, ID. It is freezing out with ice and snow, the bird is in the brine, the pie is cooked and the kid is getting ready for bed. With this I thought I would reflect on a few things I am thankful for this year. 1) Lydia's laughter, just this afternoon Kris was pulling her on her sled outside and I could hear that laugh inside so I got up and watched her laugh and smile ear to ear. That laugh has brighten many of my days this year. 2)My husband-he would do anything for me or Lydia. He does dishes, laundry (when asked) cleans (when asked), stays home instead of travels to football games so he can help his 8 month pregnany wife out, cleans carpets, plays with Lydia non-stop and shows me love and caring everyday in his little ways. 3) My parents and in laws-they would drop anything to help us out. They are always a phone call away to answer silly questions or just to cry to when I don't feel good (which is everyday these past few weeks) Their love for Lydia and Hannah. 4)The roof over our head, the food on our table and the clothes on our backs. 5) Our health 6)and as I sit here with a baby about to fall out of my body, I am thankful for the opportunity to be a Mom all over again, I am thankful to be able to bring life into this world, I am thankful for the kicking and hicups I feel all the time these days and I am most thankful to know that I only have 15 more days of this pregnancy! 7)Good friends that have become our family here in Boise, and our friends everywhere. We wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

This is Lydia's newest thing she has learned at preschool.

Outdoor Photos

Here is a sneak peak of the photos we had taken last week. We only have received these so far as she took over 1,000 shots. I can't wait to see the rest and pick them out.

Halloween

Well I did it for the 3rd year in a row, I made her Halloween costume. This year she wanted to be a penguin so I started in Sept and finished the week of her preschool party. She had a blast for Halloween. We went trick or treating with Cora and Leah, my good friends little girls. They went for about an hour and at the end she couldn't even hold up her bucket it was so heavy.

Is that a pumpkin under your shirt

Well no, it isn't
....but we were at the pumpkin patch. Last weekend we went to the local pumpkin patch, and I am so glad we did because this weekend it is going to rain and be nasty out. Lydia had a blast and Kris and I enjoyed watching her. We took a tractor/hay ride out to the fields and found a big pumpkin for Lydia and a baby pumkpin for Hannah. We then went and took a stroll around the petting farm and feed the different animals. Lydia and Mommy took a train ride (if I was any closer to labor this would have been a great way to jump start it) then we did a hay maze and played in a Corn Kernal box. It was a great morning and we had a blast going. We have been to this same pumpkin patch since Lydia was 3 months old and have her picture in front of the pumpkin we picked every year so it will always be fun to watch her grow next to the pumpkins.

This week was busy with work for Kris and I and preschool and play for Lydia. Tomorrow Kris is going to tackle my list of "honey-do's" and we hope to move the computer out of Hannah's room into the landing area so her room will just need a crib and it will be done (the crib is on order and should be here by 1st week in Nov.)

Hope everyone has a great weekend.
