Easter Egg Hunt at the Zoo

We had a great Saturday morning at the Boise Zoo, every year they put on an Easter Egg hunt with the Easter Bunny and fun activies for the kids to do. Lydia set out with her Dora Bucket and wasn't sure what to do next. After watching the kids she figured it out. She rode the merry go round and even sat with the Easter Bunny.

Today at church she was a pistle, which really isn't that new, and after Mass we had a older lady come up to us and tell us she is so beautiful and full of life! That kind of made me step back and appreciate that she is so full of life and does her own thing when she wants and not a minute sooner. It made me feel really good to hear those words after fighting with her for 90 minutes to be behave. We are very lucky parents to have such a wonderful little girl!

First week of spring (or weekend)

Spring has popped up here in Boise. We have been busy in the yard all week. Lydia and I painted some old pots, and some new ones to plant out flowers in. We hauled in a yard of garden dirt for our new expansion in our garden. I planted peas, radish, potatoes, red, yellow and white onions, bib lettuce, spinach and a rhubarb plant. I might do beets in a few weeks but not sure yet. I still need to start all my indoor seeds for this summer. We planted 100 bulbs this weekend also, glads, dalhia's, iris and lupine. So needless to say I am done digging for a few days and need to just water water water, and pray the sun comes out. I had my 3rd cake class on Thursday and we learned how to make faces, hearts, cherries, grapes, drop flowers and shell borders. It was fun and next week is the last in the series 1, I have signed up for series 2 that will start in April for 4 weeks. I also finally just about finished Lydia's felt play house, I started on it the day after Thanksgiving but with working and everything else it took forever to find the time to get it done. She just loves it. I just have to get the roof on it.

Crib

I have always gone into Lydia's room at night before I go to bed to make sure she is covered up, but lately Kris and I can't even figure out where she is because she has SO many animals and blankets in there. Well today I washed her sheets, blankets and cleaned out some of the animals.
This is the pile of blankets I got to wash:

And this is the sorted out pile of dolls and animals, there were about 10 more. I am not sure how my 39" tall little girl even sleeps in there, but this is the way she likes it!

Things kids say

So I was carrying Lydia up the stairs for nap just now and she told me to look up, so I did. She said "mommy whats this" I told her my neck. She said no whats inside it. I said my esophagus, she looked at me like I had frog eyes and said " No mommy its your Adams Apple".

I was shocked. I asked where she heard that, she said Daddy!

I laughed so hard, it was so cute!

Where did spring go?

We woke up to about an inch of snow this morning but it is slowly melting away as the sun comes out. We had grand plans to rip up about 6ft by 8ft of grass today and buy soil to expand my garden, but those plans have changed and we went and bought Kris a bike instead. I am so excited we can finally have family bike rides like I did when I was a kid!

This week was my 2nd cake decorating class but the 1st time we actually played with frosting. Oh it was so stressful, I don't have any idea how Linda would do all thos cakes in one weekend-wow! Lydia helped bake the cake or should I say eat the beater and bowl and of course she had frosting by the spoon full after I got my first layer on. I think she loves it that mommy is doing this.

We are getting bids from a few different companies to put up a pergola or sun awning in over our patio since in July and August you can't even walk out in the 100 degree weather since it is South facing. It is exciting to take this first step, maybe someday we will get one built!

We are taking Lydia to her first movie theather movie today at the dollar theater, I thnk we all three get popcorn and a drink for $10. We are going to see princess and the frog. She is super excited.

Don't forget to keep voting for Lydia's photo (see next post)

Have a great weekend!

She found all her old toys in a box and has been so delighted playing with them in our closet

My 1st cake-hopefully the next improve

This is what I caught her doing when I turned around from placing the cake in the ove

What a beautiful weekend

We had a sunny warm spring teaser of a weekend here in Boise. We planted our peach tree (Kris like to tease me that we just move to a farm since I love to grow fruit and veggies) I started to get the garden ready for radish, onions and potatoe plantings in a few weeks. Lydia helped us and had a blast. She dug the hole with Daddy, filled it in with dirt and watered all the trees and flowers for me. She loves the outdoors just like her mommy. I am so happy the sun is shinning again and we can spend all day outside. I finished her room last week and we love it. She says it is beautiful. I took another video of her dancing to her favorite Lady Gaga. Enjoy.
